Hi Friends!
Please forgive my tardiness with this post, it has been a hectic few weeks for me, and I am down a computer as well… which makes blogging slightly a bit more difficult. However, I am here now 🙂 and I want to share with you my first catering job!
A couple weekends ago, a Woman I used to work with let me come in and cater for her and 13 of her family members. Now, the first point I made to her, is I am not a caterer, nor have I ever done this before. She was so open to letting me come out her way and just see if I could actually pull this off.
We set out a theme and what kind of food she wanted. I created a menu and started to look into food cost and how to figure out how to come up with a cost per person. I may have reached out to some Chef friends to find out what profit ratio I should be in compared to the food cost. Once I figured all that out, I was able to send her the menu and the cost per person. Once we confirmed the menu and the cost – I was working on recipes!

Sounds good right!? …. It really was good! I surprised myself a little with how great everything turned out! Catering is no Joke. I definitely made way too much food, my food cost was a bit higher then I anticipated, but at the end of the day…. the food was DELICIOUS, I got leftovers to enjoy myself, and I made a little money to cover my butt while I am job hunting…. and the most important point of all…. is that my clients enjoyed everything!
It was such a humbling experience to cook for people whom you don’t know and every single one of them enjoyed their meal! A huge round of applause encased the room when Janelle and I went in to finish clearing dessert and finish packing up to head back to Calgary. The kind words and the surprised faces when I told them this was my first gig, made my whole day! It was such an incredible experience and I am so thankful for the opportunity.
anyways, I will be releasing some of these recipes over my next couple of posts so you can enjoy these in your own Home!!
